Ha ha! I'm knitting!

Everybody knows how bad the USA economy is right now - unless they've been living under a hefty trust-fund for the past year or two. However, several people here at home believed that we would hardly be affected by it; they were seriously wrong. I have been very unlucky in the job department. I have applied and interviewed and it turns out that I'm not qualified for anything except baby and petsitting and that's all I've done this summer. But those jobs have not turned out well. After about a month the mother of the two children I watched hurt her back and would be staying home from then on, so she didn't need me anymore. The worst thing is she paid me really well! I've had one petsitting job this summer; I saw the cat twice. Wilson actually looked very girly: puffy and white with light caramel patches. The first time I saw him I was so excited that I practically screamed at him. I didn't think I would see him again but the second time we literally ran into each other at the top of the stairs. Let's just say that Wilson really does not like thunderstorms. But at least he wasn't as bad as Nala, the cat who tried to attack me by climbing the broom stick I was using to keep her away from me. Stupid evil cat.

So since I have no job at the moment, I decided to take up some new hobbies to keep myselft busy, especially in the downpour we're having right now. I decided to try knitting and my mom was kind enough to fund that hobby. She bought me a book on how to knit, needles, and some yarn. And she bought me some really pretty heather-colored yarn from the farmers's market this past weekend. Things are going really well despite my hands hurting. So far, I made a coaster!

Isn't it pretty!? The bow actually turned out right the first time! It's a little rough, but it is the first thing I've ever made. Next, I want to make some curtain holders (I don't know what else I would call them) to keep the curtains in the livingroom open. Right now I'm using hair clips.

Maybe when I make enough items I can sell them at a craft fair!
